"Nishijin Weaving and the Beauty of Prayer: Weaving Buddhist Art"

Since ancient times, people have elevated the spirit of prayer into beauty.
The magnificent Buddha statues and paintings found in Buddhist art, as well as the numerous decorations adorning temples, embody the wish for peace and the faith of the people.
In particular, the golden glow has been cherished as a symbol of the Buddha's wisdom and compassion, as well as the yearning for the Pure Land.

This exhibition presents a world of beauty born from "prayer," expressed through works created using the techniques of Nishijin weaving, which boasts a history of over a thousand years.
The delicate weaving techniques and the shimmering brilliance of gold leaf and gold thread create works that convey to the present day the spiritual culture and aesthetic sensibilities that the Japanese people have cultivated.
