Japanese Buddhist art developed in response to various historical contexts, from the flamboyant aristocratic culture to the samurai society. National treasure-class Buddhist paintings, statues, and calligraphy are presented using the finest weaving techniques of Nishijin.
Rinpa, considered the pinnacle of Japanese decorative design, includes works such as Ogata Korin's "Red and White Plum Blossoms" and Tawaraya Sotatsu's "Wind God and Thunder God." It is rendered in splendor using Nishijin weaving, which employs extremely fine silk threads and pure gold leaf.
A collection of Impressionist works by Monet, Renoir, Cézanne, and others. Experience their beautiful depictions of light and delicate paintwork through the elegant weaving techniques of Nishijin-ori Asagi.
